Heimtextil

Messe

Frankfurt

2020

The 50th edition of Heimtextil – one of the largest international trade fairs for textile – offered five theme worlds that couldn’t be more different and yet all fit into one another under the overarching fair theme ‘Where I Belong’.

Annemarie Commandeur of Stijlinstituut Amsterdam commissioned Grietje Schepers and us to be part of the trend team to develop and design the immersive 2000m2 Trend Space.

The Trend Space addresses the intricacy of our layered identities via the five diverse Heimtextil 20/21 trends in a creative and informative way. “Maximum Glam” turns the glamorous life tech-savvy, “Pure Spiritual” finds balance in nature and mysticism, “Active Urban” values utilitarian, adaptable solutions, whereas “Heritage Lux” celebrates rich historical legacies and “Multi-Local” embraces global cultural influences. The vast majority of the build-out will be reused: only five per cent of the total exhibition features will go to waste and included in that tally is the carpet, which will be recycled.

“ Once in the Trend Space’s commodious confines, visitors were exposed to a world seemingly far removed from the commercial bustle."
 - FRAME Magazine on Heimtextil 2020: Where I Belong
“ Trend Space shows a balanced mixture of event and information on global currents, which is funky yet also thoughtful.” - Stylepark Magazine on Heimtextil 2020: Where I Belong
